The oldest historical monument at the Klammstein tunnel at the entrance of the Gastein valley.

At the entrance to the Gastein valley the tower rises into the sky exactly above the heads of the drivers. In former times it was the seat of the archiepiscopal orderlies, administrators and country judges and the safeguarding and administration centre of the Gastein valley.
20 years ago the castle was more a ruin than a cosy home. Been restored again for two decades, now the castle is not only a sign of the former size and power, but also a mirror of history and destinies of the population of Gastein.

In the restored tower the new owners established a little museum to see numerous show pieces from the castles history in a documentation.

One can eat also exquisitely in the castle tavern like at knight's times. Old ruins have a special attraction; One can dream and recover, or win new strength for the weekdays at the wood fire fireplace, having a beer and a good meal here.
